4 Months and the Latest Happenings

Rease turned 4 months old yesterday! I know I say this every month, but I have no idea how she grows so fast and how in the world can it be 4 months already?!

She felt like doing something really special to commemorate her turning the big 4 months, so yesterday she ROLLED OVER from her back to her belly. She has bee so close to doing this for well over a month but always gets distracted by her thumb before she gets all the way over. :) She also rolled over from her belly to her back today. Both were done with much ease, so either she has just been waiting on Chris and I to put the video camera away before she did it, or she has been doing it at day care for days and they are just too nice to tell us. I ask every day though, so hopefully they aren't lying. :)

Rease spent her entire 3rd month of life drooling like a fool and learning how to chew on everything in site. She is very good at finding what she wants and getting it to her mouth in a hurry. Sometimes she even finds things she shouldn't want and tries to get them to her mouth too, Colby's tail for instance. Thankfully I had her on my lap at that point and stopped that one quickly. Yuck. All this being said because this morning I could feel the beginnings of a tooth. Her bottom right one to be exact. She has been chomping on our fingers for weeks, but today in church it felt very sharp and pokey. So, Rease is also starting to get her 1st tooth. Big events are taking place around here!

Other than that she has started to babble and shriek and carry on pretty much all of the time. She has the cutest, high-pitched squeal. We love it and crack up whenever we hear it. We have also tried to get a decent video of her talking and squealing, but like the rolling over, she will not do it when the video camera is on. I guess we aren't raising a movie star. Lol.

Rease also thinks the best position to be in is sitting up. She is pulling herself whenever she gets the chance to. Whenever she is in her carseat she is always straining so hard to try and get herself up, too bad that harness is always in the way! She does the same thing in her swing. She grabs on to the metal sides and looks like she is trying to do a pull up or something. It is hilarious.

She also loves her feet! She can't get them to her mouth yet, but she yanks and yanks on them. It is amazing how easy she entertains herself!

Her 4 month shots went great, Chris took her this time. She also got her 1st cold this week. Yuck. She has been sleeping in her swing for the last few nights because that was the only place she wouldn't cough. We moved her back to her crib tonight (with her matress elevated), so let's hope the coughing stays away.

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Some have comments some don't.

Chris had a little Rease photo shoot the other day, but for some reason my
pictures loaded in reverse order on here. She was
happy in the beginning and a little not so happy
at the end, so enjoy them in reverse!
The Many Faces of Rease

The Paula Deen cinnamon rolls I made a while back, man
they were AWESOME. As requested, recipe is below.

Rease's favorite place to sleep.....our bed.

Riley aiding in giving Rease a bath over Labor Day.

Do you like the strategically placed bath toys?
Thank Abrah for that one.
No embarrasing pictures for Riley when he is older.
And Abrah will have to post about the big bandage/plastic bag on his hand.

Cinnamon Rolls
Recipe courtesy Paula Deen
Prep Time: 20 min
Inactive Prep Time: 1 hr
Cook Time: 30 min
Serves: 12 to 15 servings

1/4-ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup melted butter, plus more for pan
3/4 cup sugar, plus more for pan
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
3/4 cup raisins, walnuts, or pecans, optional
4 tablespoons butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 6 tablespoons hot water
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth. Add yeast mixture. Mix in remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead dough on lightly floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes. Place in well-greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled in size, usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
When doubled in size, punch down dough. Roll out on a floured surface into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough. Mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over buttered dough. Sprinkle with walnuts, pecans, or raisins if desired. Beginning at the 15-inch side, role up dough and pinch edge together to seal. Cut into 12 to 15 slices.
Coat the bottom of baking pan with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Place cinnamon roll slices close together in the pan and let rise until dough is doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes or until nicely browned. Meanwhile, mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add hot water 1 tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches desired consistency. Spread over slightly cooled rolls.

Man those cinnamon rolls look good! I need to make some of those...perhaps you should post the recipe...or at least a link. I will try to get a post up this week about the bandage. I know I have been a huge slacker.
