Some Favorites....

Here are some of our favorite pictures from this week. Now that I am feeling better, I am going to try to start doing a better job of posting and getting pictures up on the blog. This week has been good. Rease is doing great and Chris and I are finally getting used to all of the noises she makes when she sleeps. This is slowly allowing us to get some sleep. Rease is starting to stay awake more and more during the day. On Wednesday she was awake for almost 4 hours straight. It was great. She has officially outgrown the newborn diapers, to be honest...she made it longer than I thought she would. She also is quickly outgrowing many of her 0-3 month clothes. Good thing we have lots of 3 month and up clothes.

We are still peranoid about her and the things she does, but we are slowly getting used to everything. The thing that bothers me the most is when she cough/chokes. She is an incredibly spitty baby and is always blowing spit bubbles or just drooling like crazy. She must forget to swallow sometimes or something because she will start to cough and then kind of choke. It scares us to death. We are starting to get used to it and understand that it will pass, but seriously; I do not like it.

We also had our first episode of serious projectile vomit this week. Gross is all I have to say about that. Grandma Timmons even got a dose of it all over her yesterday. Poor Grandma. Atleast she didn't require a shower after her incident like I did. Trust me, that is all the details you was gross.

Some of you may not know, but the Sunday before we went to the hospital to get induced we put the car seat in the car and it pretty much didn't fit. Chris and I looked like grasshoppers in the front seat or something b/c we had to have the seat so far forward. We tried the seat in the car as soon as we bought it to make sure it fit, and didn't realize it was such a snug fit. today we went and traded in the car for a Mercury Mariner. I know, I are all thinking that is all that Chris and I do. I feel like that is all we do too, it drives me crazy. But, we should be done for quite sometime. We shouldn't outgrow this car any time soon, so we should be good to go.

Mom and Grandma came to visit for a couple days this week. Here is a picture of our 4 generations. We will have another picture like this in a couple of weeks when Chris' grandparents come to visit. It made me sad that Grandma Tuttle isn't around to meet Rease.....

Uncle Ryan sent Rease a package in the mail yesterday. Apparently we have a t-ball star in the making. I will have to add the mitt to her toybox, but find somewhere to hide the bat until she is quite a bit bigger. No need to knock out those teeth before she is even old enough to play t-ball.

**Side note: The mitt and bat were from Woot.... I better add that to the baby calendar of 1st's....
The glove is still a little big.....

I just love this one...this is one of Rease's most frequent faces.

Soaking up the sun while trying to get our jaundice to go away.

Not the best family picture....but oh well.
Rease wasn't too happy about getting a bath. This was taken directly after she peed everywhere.

Week 2

Just a quick post. Today is the 2 week mark! We are making progress. We went to the doctor today for Rease's two week check up and she is a whopping 9 lb 6 oz!! That is almost a full pound over her birth weight. We have a porker on our hands. She also grew an inch and a half in length which put her well into the 90-some percentile (I don't remember exactly).

Here are some pictures that we finally got uploaded from Rease's birth through last weekend. I had better get going now...someone is getting hungry!

Week 1...

Hello everyone!

I can't believe it has already been a week since we got to meet our wonderful daughter! It seems like it has been a short week and a long week all in one. I feel like we were in the hospital ages ago, but feel like time has gone so fast at the same time.

Here is some quick info about the birth just in case you are interested. If you aren't, I guess you should skip to the next paragraph! :) Sunday night I went to bed early with every hope of getting a really good nights sleep. Not sure why I thought that would actually happen, because it didn't! Chris and I both tossed and turned for a few hours just thinking about what Monday would bring, etc. I finally fell asleep and then about 1:30 I woke up with the worst cramps. If you don't know, which if you know me you should.........., I am paranoid. I laid in bed worrying about what was going on and praying that nothing was wrong with the baby. I finally realized that it was probably just the onset of some early, early contractions. I hadn't had any contractions to that point, so I really didn't know what to expect. I finally fell asleep a little while later, in time to get about an hour or so of sleep before I had to get up and get ready for the hospital. We got to the hospital about 7 and were started on the petocin by about 8. I was expecting it to get uncomfortable really quickly, but it didn't. I pretty much just slept and hung out in the labor/delivery room until about 4pm. So yes, all that time and I was still just barely 1cm and not making much progress. The doctor on call came in and broke my water about 4:30 or so and after that things started to move along. My doctor came in to check on us about 8:00 and I was a little over 3cm. Still a long way to go!!!! At that point we felt like we were going to be in labor forever! I really didn't want any pain meds, but decided to at least talk to the my nurse about the options I had (when it was too late to get an epidural, narcotics, etc.) just in case things got worse than I was anticipating. Thankfully I did that and Chris and I got time to talk about it because about 20 minutes after my doctor told us that we had probably about 6 hours of labor to go before we could start pushing, things got really, really painful. It was like someone just turned on a switch and I was in terrible pain and the contractions were one on top of the other. I asked for the narcotic just so that I could relax between the contractions. That worked for maybe one or two contractions. By then it was about 9 and I was miserable. I thought "There is no way I can handle this for another 5-6 hours". So I told the nurse I wanted the epidural. I really wanted to wait as long as I could and was hoping to make it to about 7cm before I got it. I got checked before the anesthesiologist put in the epidural and I was about 5 1/2 cm. So we were at least making some progress so I didn't feel like I was wimping out so much. Lol. A wonderful guy named John came in to do the epidural and I was feeling quite a bit better by about 10:00 or so. I got checked again and was 9.5 cm!!!! What in the heck. I laid in the bed all day making no progress and then in a matter of a couple of hours I was almost all the way ready!! I couldn't believe it, but was understanding why those contractions were so bad!! The baby still hadn't really dropped a whole lot and I wasn't quite ready to push, but we were getting there. About 11:15 or so we started pushing. And pushing, and pushing, and pushing. Lol. At about 1:30 am Rease's heartbeat was dropping quite a bit and taking longer and longer to recover with each contractions. They also told me that her head was pretty much stuck in my pelvis and I wasn't having much luck getting her any farther down the birth canal. Urg....I was so frustrated and worried. They really should find another way to monitor your baby's heartbeat besides you having to hear it too. That is a sure fire way to make someone stressed during labor. They called in my doctor and she was there about 2 am or so (all times are approximate, as I can't really remember them exactly). She came in and said we could try to push a little more before she would opt for a cesarean. I was happy about this because the nurses and on call doctors made it seem like we were destined for a cesarean. I don't know if it was the time I got to rest between the nurses calling a time out for a while and the doctor arriving or what, but at 2:47 am we got to meet Rease. I was so exhausted I don't even remember them holding her up for us. I think I heard the words "Dad, cut here" that I put my head back and just closed my eyes (I think umbilical cords are disgusting....) but I don't remember seeing her until she was in the little warmer thing where they cleaned her all up. She didn't cry well at first, so I didn't get to hold her (I would have remembered I just remember telling Chris to get over there and get to taking pictures, I would be fine. Lol. She also had a temperature when she was born, so she got whisked off to the nursery after Chris sat and rocked her for a few minutes while they got everything with Rease taken care of. They did bring her back to the labor and delivery room for a couple minutes before I got moved to the recovery room. It was so great to finally get to meet her! She was perfect. Even with the largest cone head I had ever seen!!

We have tons of pictures, but I will leave that for Chris to do. Right now I need to change a diaper and feed Rease. She is wonderful, making us paranoid - as I am sure every first baby does to new parents. We love her and she is wonderful! I will try to do a better job of posting, but I make no promises. I am still feeling pretty spent most of the time.

Rease Olivia Corwin

Rease Olivia was born this morning at 2:47 am. Both her and mom are doing well. She was 8lb 9oz and 20.5 inches long. She was born with a full head of hair too!!! Here is a preliminary picture of her. We will post more later I am sure, we just haven't had much time to get pictures uploaded.

The Last Day.....

Here we are, the last day of being pregnant. Well, assuming we aren't in labor for days, but oh well...we won't think about that possibility. We can't believe it is already the end, time for delivery. Time has gone by very quickly. And up until a few weeks ago I really had no complaints. But now that the swelling, aching back, tiredness, and grumpiness (oh the list could go on and on....) has set in, I am very ready to get the show on the road.

We are supposed to be at the hospital tomorrow at 7:00 am and then we will be hooked up to the monitors for a while and hopefully the induction will start by 8:30 or 9:00. I am really, really hoping to have baby Corwin out of my belly and in our arms by the time tomorrow is over, but who knows. I doubt we get her up on the blog right away, but I am sure Abrah or Micah will willingly post on their blogs for us, so stay tuned there.

I didn't get a picture taken for this week. I meant to but forgot and got in the bathtub and am already in my it will have to wait until we are on our way to the hospital tomorrow. I did measure my belly for Mandy, it is a whopping 47 inches!!! Look at what you have to beat! :)

Since we didn't get a picture taken this week we will share this with you instead (no, not her name! We still haven't decided.....). A couple months ago I was wasting some time at work while on my lunch break and came across the website of an awesome photographer. She had this really cool package on her website for "New Life" customers. Aka...people expecting new babies. We decided that since we had such bad luck with our wedding pictures that it was about time we got some good pictures. So about a week before Easter we had some pregnancy pictures taken by Nellie and you can see them on her website. Follow the link to her website here, click on "proofing" on the left and a picture will appear on the right and there will be a little box on the bottom. Enter in "corwin" and you will be on your way to seeing our pictures. In a week or so we will back with her to get our newborn pictures taken. We are excited for those as well. Enjoy!

We are off to bed so we can get a good nights rest before the big day starts in the morning. Wish us luck!

Week 38

Here we are week 38. It is hard to believe that we are so close to being done with the pregnancy, the time has flown by.

The last week was good. We really didn't do anything until the weekend and even then I didn't do much! Chris got the shed built on Saturday morning (thanks Steve and Kyle for the extra help!).
I even managed to come up with an idea for the due date guessing prize. It isn't really that exciting, apparently my creativity is also slowing down the more pregnant I am..... If a guy wins the guessing...I will have to come up with something else. I doubt they would appreciate a 5 pack of homemade cards.

Today we went to the doctor and everything was good. My blood pressure is back in an acceptable range after a couple of weeks ago and the non-stress test was good. This was the first one of those that Chris had made it to and he kept comparing her heart beat on the monitor to sounding like a horse trotting. I will have to agree, the two do resemble one another. After that we had a chat with the doctor and our exam. We were 1cm and 60% effaced. Much farther along than about a week and a half ago when we had made zero progress at all. is the big news. We are scheduled to be induced on Monday, May 11th at 7:30 am. Of course, if Baby Corwin feels like making her debut a little earlier we would be okay with that too. But, I really doubt that is gonna happen. So back to the doctor on Friday for another check of the blood pressure and so on and then we will be off to the hospital on Monday morning.

We don't have much to do this week because our bags are already packed and we are pretty much ready to go. That means lots of resting and relaxing and hopefully getting the extra bedroom cleaned up so that someone can actually sleep back here.

Here is a recap of the guessing dates, just in case you were wondering who might win....

May 4 - Abrah Johnson
May 5 - Mandy Hall
May 6 - Cindy Tuttle
May 7 - Ryan Tuttle
May 8 - The Rowe Family
May 9 - Jenny McIntosh
May 10 - Barb Corwin
May 11 - Cindy Tuttle
May 12 - Barb Corwin
May 13 - Abrah Johnson
May 14 - Tasha Halterman

Haley's Comment

Haley thought for a second we had our baby.....

Just so you know, I wanted so badly to leave Emma's last name off and keep you all spell bound until the end when I said she wasn't ours. But I thought that would be just too mean. Guess I almost got Haley anyway!

Emma Genevieve Vamos

One of my best friends from college welcomed baby number 2 to the world yesterday. Emma Genevieve Vamos was born to Anne & Attila at 3:36 pm, weighing in at 7 lb 12 oz. She is super cute and I bet her big sister Mary can't wait for her to come home!
